Jonathan Revels, MS, LCDP, LPCMH
Trauma-Informed Therapist | Addiction Specialist | Clinical Supervisor | Ph.D Candidate
Understanding what shaped you. Breaking patterns that hold you back. Discovering what's next.
Originally from the Carolinas, Jonathan brings extensive experience in mental health counseling, addiction treatment, and clinical leadership, along with a genuine passion for understanding what makes people tick. After earning his master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from East Carolina University in 2016, he built a career spanning outpatient treatment, residential programs, and correctional healthcare. Along the way, he's developed a deep appreciation for just how complicated life can be—and how much our experiences shape the ways we navigate it.
Jonathan approaches therapy through a trauma-informed lens, recognizing that the ways we think, feel, and cope often make a lot more sense when we understand where they came from. Sometimes the very strategies that helped us survive difficult experiences become the things holding us back. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, Jonathan helps clients explore those patterns, better understand themselves, and develop healthier ways of moving forward.
With specialized expertise in addiction and co-occurring mental health concerns, Jonathan understands that substance use rarely exists in isolation. He works with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, identity concerns, and major life transitions. His style is collaborative, compassionate, and refreshingly down-to-earth. He believes effective therapy isn't about following a script or offering one-size-fits-all solutions, but about meeting people where they are and helping them get where they want to be.
Beyond the therapy room, Jonathan has held leadership positions as a Program Director, Regional Director, and Senior Manager of Clinical Compliance. He's also taught graduate-level counseling courses in Crisis Intervention and Advanced Human Growth and Development. His passion for supporting fellow professionals led him to pursue doctoral studies in Counselor Education and Supervision at Capella University, researching compassion fatigue among addiction counselors. His article, Fighting Compassion Fatigue, was published in Counseling Today in July 2025.
Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, continuing to learn, and embracing opportunities for personal growth. He believes we are all works in progress, and that nobody needs to have life completely figured out to start making meaningful changes.
Above all, Jonathan believes our past may help explain who we are, but it doesn't have to determine who we become. His goal isn't to tell clients who they should be, but to help them discover who they are beyond what they've experienced.
